A fatty liver creates a massive bottleneck in your metabolic system:

  1. Hepatic Insulin Resistance: As fat accumulates in the liver cells, the liver becomes highly resistant to insulin. The liver normally "listens" to insulin to know when to stop producing its own glucose. When it becomes insulin resistant, the liver constantly dumps excess glucose into the bloodstream, even when you haven't eaten, driving up your baseline blood sugar.
